State Highway 281
First off, I won’t deny I was caught dead to rights going 66 in a 45mph construction zone. My contention is the level of enforcement between Lookeba and Hinton on state highway 281. An airplane clocked me and a trooper stopped me on the south side of Hinton. My folks came along shortly after I was given the ticket and said they saw a total of 3 troopers along that 5 mile stretch, 2 of which had drivers pulled over. Lookeba has been known as a speed trap for a long time, but to have 3 troopers plus an airplane enforcing a 5 mile stretch of highway is very excessive. This was on a weekend and I will add that the trooper that stopped me was very polite and dropped my speed on the ticket from 66 to 55mph to avoid an increase in my insurance. My only disagreement is with the number of troopers for such a short distance. I would suggest an alternate route while the highway widening is underway.
