This speed trap an Hiway 3A is designed and enforced mainly on non-residents of BC it is set up on an S curve coming into Crawford Bay approx. 1.4 miles prior to reaching the Ferry crossing.

The Hiway goes from 80kil. to 60 kil the RCMP hide in 2 unmarked Suburbans and the rest of the REMP marked units hide out of sight on Peter Road.

They run out onto the higway in uniform and a traffice vest and wave you of the road onto Peters road to cite you if your a Non resident or release those that are from BC

They will tell you the citation is for $196.00 but you have been given a break and issued the citation at the lowest possible amount of $136.00.

We watched them stop and release 5 seperate BC residents while they issued us citations we were traveling on motorcycles and they issued both of us citations once they realized we were from the USA.

We were told by local business owners and residents that this is common place for the RCMP at this location
