State Highway 40 near State Route 34

Granby, ColoradoDec 10, 20072 Comments

Granby, Colorado is a sleepy Colorado ranching community which did not even have a police department until 2 years ago. The department has little to do other than use their high tech laser speed device where the 65 MPH speed limit on Highway 40 drops to 35 MPH in town on the 2 mile stretch of Highway 40 between Highway 34 on west side of Granby and Railroad bridge on east side of Granby.

Comments:
This is not a speed trap. Hwy 40 west of Granby has a speed limit that gradually reduces as you come into Granby...it reduces once from 65 mph to 55 mph at Windy Gap (hwy 125 junction) The speed limit continues to be 55 mph until you are past the hwy 34 junction. It then reduces to 40 and then 30 through town. This is not a speed trap...just pay attention to the posted speed limits.

An earlier post was some what incorrect, near Hwy 125, the posted limit is 50, nearer town, it drops to 45 for about 300 yards then 30 through town. I have lived here for most of my life, and it really has not changed in the last 10 years.
