State Highway 54
This one is a classic. They run radar constantly and will give you a ticket for going 1 MPH over. The town is about 1 mile long and has about 7 – 8 speed limit signs in it. They will even give you a ticket for going over 1 MPH between the 35 MPH sign and the 45 MPH sign, right as you approach the 45 MPH sign and begin to accelerate. The furniture store in the next town even has a warning posted on their brochure about the speed trap.

I am from Illinois and drive through this town at least 6 times during the summer months. I always see a cop waiting on one of the side streets to nab someone. I have never been pulled over as I know about this infamous stretch, but I've seen plenty of people get caught. Many of them are out of state plates too so be careful. A lot of people are traveling to the Lake of the Ozarks and pulling a boat trailer, so be sure to slow it way down as they will get you for even a mile or two over the limit. The speed reduction happens really quickly too, so (especially those of you with trailers) be aware of the signs when passing through.
