State Highway 58 near Mimosa Boulevard
In Pine Knoll Shores the cops are out to get you. They seem to harrass young people for fun and are constantly trying to find reasons to pull you. I have been pulled 3 or 4 times for "Driving Suspiciously". Im not quite sure what that is but every time i was searched, twice without my permission, and have since filed complaints and am left alone. If you are driving on the island- dont break the law because the cops are very bored and get very excited when comfronted with the opportunity to hand out a ticket.

I grew up in PKS & the police there have always been aggressive. By most standards, they are way overstaffed & have primarily a retirement community to protect & serve. The police have an ocean front community that have 90% of the population that live across hwy 58 / salter path rd. from the ocean. That means lots of elderly pedestrians crossing the main hwy. They have there hands full w/ the elders moving around in a high traffic environment. Those elders pay their salaries & they want it safe. That said, the speed limit is still 45 mph,even during summer months. Whereas other localities reduce it to 35 mph.
