This road is a Highway Patrolman’s Dream. HWY 64 from Morganton to Rutherfordton varies from 35-55 MPH. Troopers in the 3 counties it encompasses are constantly writting tickets. I travel this road at least 3 times a week at various times and it is patroled heavily. Spots to watch out for are especially heavy in Burke County. There are a few dirt drives they run radar from and a a couple of country store parking lots. Big rigs are bad on this road as well. They speed like crazy!
