State Highway 67 near State Highway 31

The entire length of Hwy 67 (also know as Beltline Hwy)through Decatur,is heavily patrolled 24 hours a day and enforced to the letter at 30 mph. The signs leading up to the "construction zone" are misleading at first glance, going from 30 to 40 and then back to 30 in a quarter mile stretch of road. At second glance, you’ll see that the sign posting the first 30 mph limit is supposed to be a warning of what’s ahead. You cannot drive this highway at any time of the day or night without seeing tickets handed out. The majority of the time, there is no construction going on at all. The traffic lights are not even timed to support the speed limit. I am also told (unconfirmed) that the fines are incremental with the amount of speed over the limit. I feel that the Decatur police department is committing first order driver abuse and picking on the local as well as the transient populous. They are definitely generating some serious revenue here. It would be simple to just set your cruise at 30, without all that starting and stopping. Most people are bound to have a weak moment at some point and get stung.
