State Highway 71 near 8 Miles North of US 190

Deputy Sheriff stopped me for doing 90MPH. I was in a rented Ford Tarus driving 60 MPH on cruise control just after dark. I pulled over, no shoulder, and he took me to look at his radar – it did say 90. What saved me was that I had a GPS map connected to my computer and it was running on the front seat. The unit records instant speed, time of day, direction of travel, location, altitudy yada, yada, yado. I pointed that out to him and all of a sudden a cash donation to him or a trip to the JP (as crooked as the cop) along with towing charges and a night in jail, was averted. This Parish is as crooked as anyplace in the USA not to say that the rest of Lousyanna is any better. Don’t ever get pulled over in New Orleans unless you want room and board for the next 3 days….That cop was a crook and should be flogged and fired. I was advised by friends who are residents of that fine state that any complaint to higher athorithy would like just cause laughter.

Comments:
Driver you are lucky he didn't arrest you. Your vehicle was caught traveling 25mph over the posted speed limit and you should have been arrested for reckless driving. Doesn't matter what your GPS read due to you being able to manipulate the settings. Burden of proof doesn't rest on the officer, being his on-board unit indicated your estimated then verified speed. Can't believe he felt for that. I would have taken you on in court any day
