State highway 740
Badin is a very small mill town. It has a very low crime rate which gives the officers time to sit on the highway and wait for anyone going even a few miles an hour over the 35 posted limit. 35 is a reasonable speed as there is a pedesterian crosswalk and a lake front beach/park. None-the-less many 37 mph tickets are being issued.

I know for a fact that there are no tickets that are issued for a few miles over. I just happen to be one of the officers in this town, and in most cases we give people 15 mph over before they get wrote up. 15 over, not 2 over. The court system would toss those tickets out in a heart beat and our Chief would not allow us to write those kind of tickets. Pay attention to the speed limit signs, and if you're not blind, we sit in the open. If you pay attention like one should, then you should pass through our small town just fine.
