State Highway 83 near E. San Saba Avenue
Speed drops quickly on southbound Hwy 83 as you enter the city. Speed signs are not seen easily. I thought I was in a 50 mph area and even saw the Sheriff coming from the opposite direction. He said I was in a 40 mph zone going 48. I was very nice to him and he was professional. I guess that is one way they earn money. In the future, I won’t be spending any money in that town.

Looks like the guys get busy every summer driving season!
Same happened to me, stop at convenience store in Menard County, passing through from San Antonio Texas and speed limit was 50 and as I left the store sheriff pulled me over said it was 40. I was going 50. Never saw sign because they don't want u too and I'm assuming they make lots of money on tickets in this exact spot from many passing through. I really think someone local should stand up for the people that get caught in this spend trap because as far as I'm concerned this is illegal and very deceiving.
