State Highway 90 near Darnell Road

Hwy 90…East & West Bound, State Troopers sit just over the Darnell Road overpass on the shoulder of the Hwy as You top the overpass and clock You with the radar in his back window of his patrol car. Radar Dectectors don’t help until it’s too late, for when You top the overpass, he’s GOT YOU before you can slow down. The speed limit on most of this Highway 90 is 65 until You get further East (or South) into St. Mary Parish were the speed limit increases to 70. But BEWARE, their favorite hiding spot(s) are just on the other side of these overpasses as You are topping them and coming down on the backside. I know, as I received TWO (2) tickets (about 6 months apart) from the exact same State Trooper who drives a white police cruiser with NO lights on the top of his vehicle. (You would think I would have learned from the first ticket…but did from the second one). There are other State Troopers who patrol this section of highway as well (sometimes seeing as many as 4-5 State Troopers within a mile or two of each other). This stretch of Highway 90 through Iberia Parish is Very Notorious for speed traps! I now have & own a radar blocker (which is LEGAL in Louisiana…and other states, only about 5 states on the east coast bann these) as well as my detector to detect & block their radar signal and they get a "00" mph reading or it says "Error" on their radar gun. But, they will clock You on the overpass (being so close) no matter what type of device You have. So, Just a Warning to any & ALL Motorists who travel this stretch of highway, You better be doing 65 or under when topping these overpasses in this area. They will NAIL You and don’t give any break on this. I guess this is how Iberia Parish survives and makes their living off of speeding tickets!
