State Highway 91

Hanceville, AlabamaSep 10, 20092 Comments

initial speed limit on hwy out of town is set at 35. It changes to 45 but stays 45 for several miles out of town before changing finally to 55. While adjusting my speed to 55 on my cruise control which I use regularly after seeing the 55 mph sign the policeman came around a curve from the opposite direction and after passing me well in the 55 mph zone turned around and came after me. He said he clocked me at 58 in when he saw me. He was nearly a quarter of a mile ahead at the time. He said I had not gotten completely past the 55 mph sign yet so I had not crossed the imaginary line in the road where it changes from 45 to 55. Could the city be desperate for fine money? I am 58 years old and this is my first speeding ticket in my lifetime. Since I was right at the 55 mph sign on my side of the road I did not feel it was justified. Plus he could not see the sign from his vantage point.

Comments:
This is a speed trap. Anywhere along Hwy 91 north of Hanceville is used by Hanceville PD to bring in money for the city. 45 MPH signs are posted way out of the city. I have seen their officers all the way out to Center Hill with some one pulled over. There could be only one reason for this long distance patrolling outside of the city. REVENUE.
