State Highway Highway 32 near State Highway Highway 99

Chico, CaliforniaSep 25, 20054 Comments

Highway 32 traveling W/B from Forest Ave. area passing the Park and Ride lots before the Hwy. 99 On ramp and Stop light. There will be a Chico Police car parked on the side of the road with radar. They try to get you locked in before you can lower your speed down from 55 MPH to 30 MPH once you pass the Park and Ride lots. They are using cars with no lightbars and motorcycles.
The CHP also likes to use this spot to get extra tickets.

Comments:
The speed limit goes from 45 to 35 NOT 55 to 30. If you slow down to 35 people will run you over. On the right is 8th street and less than a mile up is Parkview elementary school.I love to see people get tickets here. I have seen people going over 50 thru there. I haven't seen a police car for a long time now they only use motorcycles.

yeah, 45 to 35mph true that. ..and again.. WHY would you be speeding right past where the CHP & CPD offices are anyways?? if you're speeding anywhere near there, you're just an idiot that deserves a ticket anyways!

The Chico PD & the CHP headquarters are both within 100 yards of this area. It is indeed a place to slow down. The speed limit lowers to 35 for several safety reasons. I was T-Boned a few years ago by someone who blew through the stop sign here and nearly killed me. I am glad that I was only doing 35 when I was hit. I am thrilled when I see a ticket being issued here. Too many idiots continue to drive way too fast in this stretch.

The Chico PD is using a motorcycle cop with radar. He sits just off Fir St. on the right so he can use the radar through the bushes on Highway 32. The speed limit sign on the right is nearly invisible because of trees and bushes until you are right upon it. There is a sign on the left but by the time you see it the radar has already clocked you. It is a very busy intersection but most people are still traveling at 40 to 45 entering the intersection. The speed changes from 45 to 35 but it can be very deceiving. The monitoring of this section is inconsistent so you need to be aware that once you see the intersection drop your speed quickly. The tone on the radar notes your change in speed and you might not get the ticket.
