State Highway M-59

Imlay City, MichiganDec 12, 20072 Comments

State troopers (yes, more than one) sit on the other side of the hill, as speed goes from 70mph, to 50mph, and back up again. Don’t try to escape. County sits at gas station, and assist them.

Comments:
M59 (Hall Rd.) does not go north and south through Imlay City. Perhaps you mean M53/Van Dyke? I would like to know which hill the writer is speaking of that has a 70mph speed limit.

M-59 is 25 miles south of Imlay city. The two major highways that intersect at Imlay City are I-69 and M-53. I-69 is an east/west interstate hwy, and M-53 is a major north/south state road. Neither road fits the discription offered by the writer as the speed limit on the interstate is a consistent 70 MPH and the speed varies from 45 to 35 mph through the city on M-53. Occasionally the Imlay City Police will sit north of the railway viaduct and shoot northbound traffic exceeding the 35 mph speed limit. The traffic under the viaduct narrows and calls for a decrease in speed. However, for the unaware the posted limit is difficult to see until the last minute, if at all. As for the police, they are somewhat lenient for those violators who recognize the error of their ways, and have not otherwise driven recklessly.
