State Highway Rt 23 near State Route From Catskill to East Windham
Rt 23 (4 lane section) between Catskill and Cairo are the heaviest enforced road in NY State. Even worse then Toll-Free 90. They also heavily patrol Rt 23 (2 lane) from Cairo to East Windham. There are 50 state troopers, Sheriff, and local police who join in the feeding frenzy. Almost all the red lights are also timed wrong. They should be 5.5 seconds, but they have been recently changed them to 4.0 seconds, so that they can ticket more people. On a busy holiday weekend, you can see 1 cop every 1/2 mile. Keep your speed 60 MPH or under. If business is slow, they pull people over to see if they can find something during the stop. It happens to me at least once a year. My employees get stopped coming into our business 3-4 times a year. Some sit on favorite spots, while most run the road and catch people in both east and west bound lanes.
