State Highway U.S. 90 near US Highway LA 182

Saint Mary Parish, LouisianaJan 31, 20081 Comments

Between the Calumet Bridge on LA highway 90 and the Morgan CIty Bridge on Highway LA 90. Every morning during work traffic and afternoon work traffic there are at least 8 police patrol cars. Local police, Parish police ands State Police are all involved. The least ammount of stops I have seen on any given day is three, on most days there are more stops. The speed limit goes from 70 to 65 to 55 and back to 60 on the Morgan CIty Bridge. Fortunatley I have only been ticketd once in the last 5 years. My concern is for the people that are not from this area and are unaware how aggressive the police are in this particular area.

Comments:
I agree that the area between the end of the Morgan City bridge heading west to the end of Patterson where it goes up to 65mph is heavily patrol by local and state police and everyone needs to be aware of this, but it is 55mph for a reason. This area has many spots on it for getting on and off the highway and many accidents still happen. When the speed limit was put back to 70mph threw this area the accident rate went way up so the mph was reduced back to 55mph and there is still bad accidents on this short stretch of highway. There is reduce speed signs at both ends of this section of HW90. Just remember to slow down and stay alert threw this area and you will get to where you need to go sooner and safer.
