State Highway W near Service Road

Foristell, MissouriAug 20, 20072 Comments

Officer was sitting with radar. He observed me driving slightly off the pavement onto the shoulder to go around a dump truck. I came to a complete stop, started around the truck, and the officer pulled me over, gave me a ticket for running off the pavement. He gave me a ticket for passing on/driving on shoulder, cost $178 plus $52 court costs, which was very excessive for a minor offense. I feel that in a town of 331 people, four police cars parked in the police lot, not being used, plus those on patrol. It is obvious that this little town uses it’s police force to generate funds from unsuspecting motorists from out of town. This town of Foristell intersects with I-70, which is the main speed trap for tourists and truckers.

Comments:
It's not just out of towners that get stopped. I lived in the area 19 years and was stopped at this trap. There are several traps in the small Foristell area... Just be aware and mind the law for this short distance.

I have lived in the Foristell area since 1949....A local judge told me that they require patrolmen to write traffic violations at every chance. I sincerely apologize for this small town becoming a predator municipality.....They also like to annex just the roads but not the residential property....Enables more revenue collection from traffic "violaters" but does not require them to supply community services....Somewhat in their defence, they are very active in Highway Patrol assisstance and drug law enforcement, Interstate 70 being a "flyway" for drug traffic.....We are working to reform state laws that allow incorporated areas to live off the road-kill that they create.
