Local Police patrol this highway very well, and the signs don’t lie, "Speed Limit Strictly Enforced"!!! They patrol this area even more during the school year, since the elementary school is right along the highway. This area is considered a school zone, and 1 mile over the 25mph limit, starts at $40!!!!!

This stretch of road is heavily patrolled when there are events in Oakes that draw folks from out of town. Especially graduation and mother's day! When coming into Oakes from the north and while still on a seeming rural stretch of road, the speed limit decreases very quickly from 65 to 45 to 25. That's where the officers are waiting for you!
