State Police cruiser sitting beside the road (Old National Pike) using handheld radar. Speed limits were reduced several months ago between Mount Airy and New Market (5 miles) and since that time there has been considerable police presence. Old speed limit was 50. New speed limit varies between 30 & 40. Road was designed to handle traffic of at least 50 mph.
