State Route 1806 near 3rd to 19th Streets

Mandan, North DakotaJun 05, 20082 Comments

When traveling on Highway 1806 coming from Fort Yates (Sioux Nation) and entering into Mandan, state troopers are prowling on Highway 1806 between the 19th street and 3rd street. The location is at the South entrance of Mandan.

They are specifically targeting Native Americans traveling from the Fort Yates Sioux Nation.

State troopers will pull over Native Americans even if they are driving within the speed limit. The objective is to deter Native Americans from entering into Mandan or Bismarck. Be careful if you are a Native American and traveling to Mandan on Highway 1806.

Drive within the speed limits and make sure all your vehicles or driving documents are in your car and with you.

I have lived in Mandan/Bismarck for most of my life and I have never seen this to be true. If you are caught speeding, you will be pulled over but I have not seen State Troopers laying for anyone, much less Native Americans. The stated objective to deter Native Americans from entering Mandan or Bismarck is totally untrue. In fact, there is a Native American College in Bismarck, United Tribes.

This is to all motorists. Radar does not lie. If you are speeding, you should be cited. Traffic enforcement saves lives. You should be paying attention to the speed limit signs and to the road and you will not miss a speed sign. You will know exactly what the speed limit is. Don't blame the police because you got caught. Be an adult or responsible person and admit to a mistake. Law Enforcement personnel are only doing their job. Don't be a hater. Also, enough with the race card. Motorists travel past enforcement officers at speeds that does not enable them to determine race and gender (at times). Again take responsibility for your mistakes and above all, drive within the state speed limit.
