We live in nearby Payson, AZ located 5 miles from Star Valley. We are very aware of this speed trap. There is one warning sign prior to the camera. We travel frequently to Star Valley. Not one ticket in the 2 years it's been set up. Two months ago, wife was driving, I was a passenger in the back seat, so was able to observe her speed accurately looking over her shoulder. We commented on the upcoming speed trap. She slowed to the 45 speed limit. As we passed the camera it flashed. I couldn't beleive it. Sure enough about a week later the ticket showed up in the mail. $175.00 Went to court, told story, judge would not dismiss. Had to pay the fine. We are living only on Social Security and driving a 12 year old car. This fine means we eat a lot of sphagetti and beans instead of hamburger for 3 months. There is another problem with this particular speed trap. You approach it at 55 mph on a 30 degree downhill angle so, only with a hard application of the brakes can you slow down in the short stretch between the sign and the camera. We now slow down to 35 mph, causing all sorts of dangerous back up behind us every time we go to Star Valley or have to drive through it. There are several stores in Star Valley that we used to frequent. We go elsewhere now with our business, avoiding Star Valley if at all possible.

Yep, they're merciless in Star Valley - brown painted speed cameras positioned near the bottom of hills just as you enter the community along with a rapidly decreasing speed limit.They'll nail you every time. So far, I've been lucky, but....
