State Route 302 Sugar Street

Newtown, ConnecticutMar 28, 20061 Comments

Heading towards Newtown (Police Station, Rams Pasture, Main Street, etc) At the last turn before the really big farm fields (left) will be a marked cop car sitting before the bend on the right hand side catching people doing way over the under posted 40 mph on the really long straight a way before this said turn. Its hard to tell if there is a cop car there becuase of the random white reflectors on metal sticks on the same side of the road as the cop is. Making the reflective markings on a cop car and the road markers hard to decipher between. They run it 99% of the time at night. But I have seen them do it during AM rush hour…

Comments:
I no longer live in Newtown or Southbury; however, that place has been a favorite for years. I forgot if I got a ticket there once? Probably. Sometime around 2005 or 2006, due to all the speeders in the country roads in and around Newtown (roads which they prefer to keep rural rather than widen and/or put bicycle and/or walking lanes upon), Newtown Police stepped up enforcement; not just on speeding and other traffic infractions, but also on crosswalks; when you see a pedestrian trying to walk across the street in any crosswalk in Newtown (Connecticut has a strict crosswalk law), say to yourself "California crosswalk law!"
