State Route 40 near Groove Boulevard
Since the hiring of a new, honest police chief, I think some of the speed trapping has slowed down, however, I was charged with going 60 mph in a 30 mph zone which was impossible because I never went 60, but maybe 40 mph. The police car never faced me and could not later show me on tape. The cop showed me on his radar that I was going 60, then he wanted to show me how he could calibrate his radar, and coincidentally, his radar calibrated at 60 too! Go figure. When I paid my ticket at city hall another guy was paying his. I asked him how fast he was going and he say 60 mph. Go figure. I was local. A friend from out of town was charged with going 84 mph in a short distance from when he left a gas station. He had a witness behind him that knew how fast he was going. They almost put him in jail because he reacted to the ridiculous charge. There is no leadership in the council and mayor to stop this corruption. Most of there speed trapping is done between 1-95 and downtown Kingsland. The Sheriff’s department traps on I-95 at the Kingsland exit.
