State Route 443 near Normanskill Bridge
Bethlehem Police sit in the driveway of a business located on the right, a little way up Rt 443 (Delaware Avenue), just across the bridge over the stream that separates the town of Bethlehem from the city of Albany. The bridge is about 1/4 mile long and straight and few people actually go the posted 40 mph limit. At the end of the bridge the road goes up a grade – not a convenient place to decelerate – and the cops are there to nail people. I have nearly collided with their cruisers on more than one occasion when they go flying out after some speeder. Never been caught myself, though.
