State Route 448 near State Highway 528

Corrales, New MexicoJun 13, 20054 Comments

The town of Corrales is well-known by area locals for zero-tolerance traffic enforcement. The residents of the town are in on the game and will drive below the posted limit just to be annoying. The posted limit on the main road through town is 30-35 mph, all other roads 15-25 mph. Recommend not going into or through Corrales unless you aren’t in a hurry or have business there.

I live in Corrales. The citizens drive the speed limit because if you don't the police will give you a speeding ticket. I have also recieved a ticket for not coming to a complete stop at one of the only stop signs on Loma Larga the ditch road. The politics are just as bad. I live on a dirt road that will never get paved. Our neighbors had a paved road but never ran a gas line down their road. When they wanted gas service, they tapped into the main in our road which made our road inaccessible at various times. But when we started driving on their paved road they put a metal pipe fence up so we could not use their road. I love where I live. I just don't like the way the police handle problems. I had a neighbor that ran a backhoe at all hours of the night. When we called to complain the police department said it is a farming community and he could make noise at night. That's Corrales!

Corrales Gov. is run by elected citizens. I have lived here for 35 years. I have seen a rural village attempt to provide safe roads, a professional fire dept, public hearings for civic planning, and most important a quality of life for everyone. There has been a strong effort to pave all public roads , also providing access for large fire equipment. For those that have fought giving their road to the village has suffered dust, potholes, and access for fire and rescue. The police aren't against us, they work, another entity securing our quality of life in our rural treasure, if you don't like country life , move to the city and stoppppppppp conplaining, come to a village council meeting and share your whiney story.

So the village residents are in on the speed limit scam? Are you kidding? I drive below the speed limit sometimes because I drive a 2 thousand lb. vehicle and sometimes need to stop. I also promote bicycling which seams to be annoying to some motorists. "Speed limit" doesn't mean mandatory required speed. Slow down, you will arrive at your destination without exhibiting your lack of sense and courtesy . Or better yet, don't use our village road as your shortcut to your godless suburban hellhole with the fundamentalists and lawn gnomes.

The entire village of Corrales is a speed trap. I received a speeding ticket for doing 18 mph, in a 15 mph zone! It's a shame they don't use all of the "extra" revenue to improve the roads...
