State Route 60 near James L. Redman Parkway

Plant City, FloridaAug 14, 20071 Comments

On Highway 60 on the south side of Plant City, just east of Redman Parkway, and west of the weight station (almost right after it), they sit on the north side of the road in packs of 2 and 3 and make obscene amounts of money from the fines they give out. The road drops from 65 to 50 in a blink of an eye. That’s an automatic over-15-mile-an-hour ticket in excess of $210 (and 50 cent). Got my first ticket there, and successfully fought it because the 50 mile an hour speed limit sign is less than 1 mile from where they are measuring your speed. If you get a ticket here Fight It (at least until they move the 50 mph sign farther out).

The speed from 65 to 50 is clear marked to show begin to slow and the sign is very visable on the right hand side of the road. And you are also coming into an area of homes and gas stations. No cops sits waiting for you and this is not a major speed trap. We have others in Plant City that are worse.
