Stretch of Highway 52 running thru Stokes County

King, North CarolinaNov 04, 20031 Comments

All travelers and commuters, heed these stern words!

Stokes County is among the poorest counties in North Carolina and is desperately cash strapped. The only major road running thru it is Highway 52 which goes thru a small corner of the county. The limit thru this entire run is 65. If you decide to go faster, be very very wary! State troopers regularly patrol and hide on shoulders and ramps here and will light you up lickety split. The county generally will work with you to go down to improper equipment with a good record..but be careful!

Comments:
I regularly see a trucker pulled over under the bridge at Exit 123 in King on U.S. 52. This would be the northbound lane. I am traveling southbound at about 6:15-6:20 and nearly every day there is an 18 wheeler pulled over by a state trooper. I can't figure out why they pull them over because it is an upgrade for a half mile before the bridge and they have to be lugging down.
