Sunset Beach Bridge

Sunset Beach, North CarolinaApr 04, 20121 Comments

Speed limit changes 3 time between Sunset Beach proper and the end of the bridge on the main land. It goes from 35 at the beach to 45 on the causeway to 35 on the bridge, then back to 45 as soon as you turn off the bridge. Ridiculous. If you are doing 35 at the top of the bridge you will be doing 45 at the bottom. Have been warned by locals that the SBP do write tickets thru there.

Comments:
Update (2016): On the island the speed limit is 25 mph on Main St and South Sunset Blvd from Main St to the beginning of the causeway; 20 mph on all other island streets. 35 mph beginning at the island end of the causeway, through the roundabout and continuing north on North Sunset Blvd about 1/2 mile where it becomes 45 mph. Often see speed traps at the intersection of N Sunset Blvd and Northshore Drive on the island, at the island end of the bridge (beginning of the causeway), on N Sunset Blvd on the mainland near the point where the limit changes 35 to 45.
