Cop ALWAYS sits in Gardner White parking lot on southbound side of telegraph just south of I94 between Ecorse and wick roads.

Tip: Be careful when you go down the hill. Speed excellerates naturally and they know that. I got a speeding ticket there. It was my first time driving in Taylor. : (

I wrote this to a reporter at the Detroit News who did an article about speed traps. I think you should ask the citizens of Wayne county to write and tell you of their experiences of speed traps. You would be amazed. There is what I call a rogue cop in Taylor who sits in a Gardner White driveway on Telegraph with his radar gun. Heading south past Ecorse Rd you go under a bridge. It is downhill. Most people know if you are doing the speed limit, you brake going under the bridge, because the laws of physics will have you traveling at closer to 50 mph instead of the 45mph limit there. Bingo!! You are pulled over. Our mother lived in Taylor. My sister from Pinckey came into town and swore she was doing the speed limit. The cop basically told her to shut up. He said he clocked her coming off the I-94 freeway at 59mph. Impossible from where he is hiding. And she is a 62 year old woman who drives cautious. I was heading up the same way one day and looked down at my speedometer. I was doing doing 45mph. In the center lane. How do I know that? Because I have seen this cop in action there. Only one car ahead of of me. No one besides that car, anywhere around. As we went under the bridge I was doing 48, maybe 49. Again, the laws of gravity set in.The car in front of me put on their brake and slowed to 45mph. I automatically braked seeing his tail lights come on. The cop pulls out of Gardner White and pulls the car over in front of me. I was outraged. I was swearing to myself. But as others have advised me, DO NOT pull over and try to argue the case with that police officer in support of the other driver. You will not only get ticketed, but end up going to jail for interferring with a police officer and his duties.

I had a similar experience at this site. The car in front of me couldn't have been going over high 40's and was pulled over. Don't rely on the 10 over 'safe' rule here.

Taylor police have two new unmarked Dodge Chargers - one is bright red and the other dark gray. These same cars are issuing tickets at the Telegraph and Ecorse overpass speed trap as well as issuing speeding tickets at the Allen Rd. construction area from Goddard Rd. South to Northline Rd. where the speed limit has been reduced to 30 and 35 mph from 40 and 45 mph depending how close you are to Goddard Rd. If you are speeding unfortunately you have no argument about a ticket. There is no reason to speed. The Telegraph Rd. speed trap is unscrupulous because of the decline that causes a vehicle to increase speed as it goes downhill.
