The entire city of Fraser

Fraser, MichiganFeb 18, 20112 Comments

The entire city of Fraser has always been a speed trap. I’ve lived here for 11 years and I got 2 speeding tickets for going 5 over (these are the only tickets I’ve gotten in 30 years of driving). One between 13 mile and 14 mile on Hayes and one ticket between Grosbeck and Garfield on 14 mile rd. Fraser is a 2 by 2 square mile city that pays its bills by giving out tickets. Most people in the Detroit Metro area knows that Fraser is the ticket capital of South Eastern Michigan. Fraser also has spotters (cops who stand at a corner and look for people not wearing seat belts) and radio ahead your car to a waiting officer.

Comments:
The police in Fraser are well known to be very strict on speeders. If you know that and still speed while driving through Fraser, then you deserve your ticket. I drive Utica Rd quite a bit and as soon as I hit the Fraser city limit, I keep an eye on my speed. Sometimes I'll even intentionally get behind a slower driver just so I'm not tempted. Oh, and not wearing a seat belt is also against the law.

The comment by the person saying you shouldn't speed and the law says you should wear your seat belt sounds holier-than-thou. I'm 52 and have had 3 speeding tickets in my life. Each time I deserved it...each time my speed simply got away from me as I may have been listening to music and just enjoying my drive. BUT this past Sunday coming home from lunch at Cracker Barrel I decided to take 14 mile, then turn on Utica Road to go home to Sterling Hts (near Lakeside Mall). 14 mile is not a tiny road, I was the only one on the road and I was pulled over. I hadn't a clue why I was pulled over the cop asked me how fast I think the road is...I said 35 to 40...he said 30mph at which point I was floored...30 mph for that size of a road with very few businesses to pull off into. What a crock. I didn't see the signs saying it was 30. I was doing 40 mph. Yes dear wonderful such a good driver, I did deserve it because I was after all speeding. The cop said he'd give me a break and issue me a ticket for impeding traffic as that would not give me any points. The ticket has 0 information about where to pay or how much it cost. I had to call the police station where I was told my 'break' of impeding traffic will cost me $160.00! I will NEVER shop, eat or give Fraser ONE PENNY of my money. I will avoid the entire city like the scurge that it is!
