I just got my 2nd ticket in Tremont and this time I am having it transferred to Springfield City Courts. The officer told me he clocked me coming into town on East Main, however he wrote down that he clocked me on West Main. He then waited until I was out by the dump to pull me over, sirens and all, about a mile and 1/2 outside of town. He then wrote down that it was a $360 fine since it was my second offense in 12 months. It was actually my first offense in 12 months. Everything written about Tremont being a speed trap is true! And you're right, with all the revenue they bring in from the citations, why don't they clean the place up a little? Where does all that money go??

It is all very true about this speed trap, as I have lived in Tremont City for a long time. The only purpose that this police department serves is to write tickets, that is all that justifies their existence. Other than that they are worthless. They cruise the town for hour after hour just burning up gas because they have nothing else to do. Most of the cops look barely out of highschool and as was stated before, use chasing speeders as an excuse to drive a high powered car too fast. Some day when they go chasing someone north on Upper Valley Pike, I expect for them to run over some poor innocent person coming out of a driveway. The current chief needs to have these trafic stops made within the village limits and quit allowing or promoting the chasing of people for the thrills of the officers. It also continues because there is an " ol'e boy network" with the village council members and mayor. Dont travel thru or shop for anything in Tremont City if you can avoid it. Also all the posters who keep posting or voting that this is not a speed trap are probably on the council or police force! This is a village of less than 400 people with not one but two cruisers, what does that tell you?
