Hiding is the least of your worries. It's when the sneaky little bastards follow you out of town and then say you're speeding in the village limits when you're a mile or more outside of town. Problem is, they have removed all of the village limits signs on the way out and any signs that say resume speed.

We got caught in this trap as well. Barney Fife pulled us over a mile outside of town and claimed he clocked us going 37 in a 25. Funny thing is, where he says he clocked us was only 20-30 yards from the stop light in town. Apparently we went from a full stop, turned right and accelerated to 37 in a minivan. As we were unfamiliar with the area and looking for our next turn, I can guarantee we were not going faster than 25. Anyhow, when my husband went to court after pleading not guilty, the bastards had the nerve to say that they had received reports of him speeding through town and flipping people off earlier in the day. Interesting, since the vehicle he was supposedly driving was parked in Dayton all day, and I am pretty sure he was sleeping since he works nights! So they reduced the charges to "operating an unsafe vehicle". BTW-it's a 2008 vehicle, hardly unsafe!

I live in town, and I have begged for them to sit in my driveway and watch how people act when the cops aren't on duty (but they haven't). If people see the police, they will generally behave themselves as they pass through town. But when there are no officers present, they zip through town (I've witnessed speeds up to 70mph on the main roads) like all the residents are an inconvenience as they are passing through. The highway is only two miles up the road, so please use it if you're in that much of a hurry.

The same thing happened to us as posters 1 and 2. We were heading west from Springfield and took Upper Valley Pike to Tremont City. We turned at the light and were driving west. We had gone up a hill and were quite a bit out of town when I saw the lights and heard the siren. We pulled over thinking we needed to get out of his way. BUT NO! He pulled in behind us and sat there for a few minutes. We didn't think we were speeding and our radar detector never went off. Although, we rarely ever speed, especially in towns, we use the radar detector as a precautionary measure. The cop finally got out and told us that we were speeding about three blocks from the light. Then he said we were speeding JUST before we left the city limits. I have no idea where the city limits are located. My husband asked him if he had it locked in. My husband said that he wanted to see it. The cop said that he would show it to him after he wrote the ticket. In a few, he came back and told him to slow down and didn't even give him a warning ticket! We will NOT be going to or through Tremont City again! We are both retired and in our 60's. We were not rushing to go anywhere! They should be ashamed of themselves!
