Turkey Oak Road near Crystal River Bypass

Crystal River, FloridaOct 10, 20061 Comments

Turkey Oak bypass between SR 44 (east of Crystal River) to US 19 (NW of town) This is a new paved road with many gradual engineered curves, no population, posted at 40 mph. It defines the Crystal River city limit in an arc, and is patrolled both city police and Citrus County Sheriff’s office. Usual setup is one officer at Yeoman’s Park (west end of road), and another at the eastern SR 44 intersection under pine trees. From day 1 it has been a revenue maker for local law enforcement.

Comments:
Good news, the Crystal River PD has been disbanded; bad news, the Citrus County Sheriffs have taken over--they still set up radar at this location. This is such a popular area for speeders to get caught that several high-level police officials show up here to join in the fun. The 40 mph speed limit is only posted at each end of this two mile stretch of road, but anyone doing over 44 will be stopped.
