U.S. 64 between Williamston and Jamesville

Williamston, North CarolinaJul 03, 20031 Comments

This is the area that when on your way to the beach, it becomes a 55 mph zone after driving 70 mph on the new 64. This stretch is 4 lanes and should have a 65 mph speed limit. It just hasn’t been changed. These Barney Fife cops sit on side roads waiting for the unsuspecting beach bum or tourist to come by. Knowing that the poor soul has been driving at least 65 for hours, they know you will be a little heavy footed. Also if you are an out of towner or an out of state person, they know you will more than likely pay off the 60 in a 55 tickets they right.

Comments:
This road def should not have a 65 MPH speed limit because it has turn cut outs in the median...Roads that are not limited access roads (have exits instead of turns) never exceed 60 MPH. That is why the limit is 55...its not bc they havent changed it yet...if it does get changed it will only be a 5MPH jump bc 60 is the highest speed a normal access road can have in NC.
