U.S. Highway 71 Through Cheneyville

Cheneyville, LouisianaApr 26, 20102 Comments

We were heading north through Cheneyville in April 2010 and was clocked doing 47 in a 35mph. The Chief that pulled us over said we were in a 35mph zone, however, we were still in a 45mph zone. The ticket was $133.50. He informed me that it was the “second” 35mph zone sign and I missed the first one. We saw the only 35mph zone sign and was slowing down for it when he peeled out in the gravel to loop around and catch me. When he got out of the car, he spit a big wad of tobacco. We assumed he was the chief, the judge, and the baliff so we just let it go. Beware…

Comments:
WOW.! The EXACT same thing happened to us.! EXACT.! & The ticket was exactly $133.50.! They need to be stopped.!

Going north on Hwy 71. My story is the same as the others on this subject for Cheneyville. He is sitting on the side of the road facing south. He clocks you while you are slowing down before you reach the 35 speed zone. The ticket notes the stopping place is about two blocks in the town on Hwy.71 definitly a speed trap. Needs to be reported to State office.
