U.S. Hwy. 12 between Pataha and Pomeroy, WA.

Just before Pataha, the highway speed is 60 mph. A “warning” sign along US 12 says “Speed Zone Ahead” not “Speed limit 45 mph” like it should. As I was traveling along I continued going 60. You can miss the 45 mph sign very quickly and the cop sits right there radaring you. So if you are not familiar to this area, you will get a ticket. Typical speed trap. I got a ticket because of it and told the judge he had a typical small town speed trap. I also told him I had to take the day off from work in Idaho to appear in court to contest the ticket. This small town thinks that it will get the speeders from out of state and they will just pay the fine.

Comments:
They like to sit on the side road just at the top of the hill where the speed limit drops from 60 to 45 as you are climbing the hill. Probably 100 yards from the 45 mph sign. They are also know for pulling over motorcycles for noise polution. I think they enjoy the groups headed to Sturgus from the west every year as they have to go through Pomeroy.
