U.S. Hwy. 98 between Morphy Ave. and Fairhope HS

Fairhope, AlabamaJan 08, 20101 Comments

U.S. Hwy. 98 changes (going north) very quickly from a 4 lane road lightly traveled at most hours to the part through the Fairhope/Montrose/Daphne line. There is no objection to keeping speed under control during the daylight/travel hours but the FPD in particular seems to use this section at off hours as a way to make ticket quotas. Said to be true of Daphne section in another comment.

Comments:
I've lived in Fairhope for 20 years and have never found any road to be what I would call a speed trap ( like the one over in Wilmer used to be ), all streets in Fairhope are patrolled and there are always places like the ones you refer to but only because they are areas where there are usually people going over the speed limit, if you were doing 35 on Bancroft STREET you were going too damn fast and deserved a ticket. Most of the posted limits in town are what they should be for public safety, yours and mine. Try going the speed limit and not rolling through stop signs and you won't have to worry about tickets. Have a nice time and enjoy town, It's one of the best there is in the country.
