US 129
The new four-lane US 129 around Jefferson is worthy of a 65-70MPH posting, but ironically it’s only posted 55MPH.. To add to the irony most of the new highway is in the Jefferson City Limits.. There have been times where I have seen high frequencies of cop cars, bith Jackson Co. and Jefferson city. on this 55mph stretch of road… Although most people go 70-75, I must let people know that somethimes the cops inthis town will take advantage of the 55mph speed limit and nail people for the pleasure of revenue…

The Georgia DOT sets all speed limits on all state routes. Yes, it could be set higher but with the cross streets and several deaths already from people pulling out onto the bypass I don't see them raising the limit any time soon.
