US-14 Northwest Highway

Palatine, IllinoisDec 19, 20020 Comments

Northwest Highway is a four lane road that, in this section, is fully straight and is also set with a 40 limit. A decade ago, it was 45, and to this day, you still want to do 50+ on it. Palatine cops sometimes stake out this stretch, especially from the Route 53 exit east to Wilke Road. I have even seen them pull over their targets once they pass into neighboring Arlington Heights (east of Wilke Road). I wonder if one should somehow question the legality of this. Also, once you pass into Arlington Heights, the limit goes down to 35, but the road remains a four lane straightaway. I’ve seen an Arlington Heights cop clocking people from the parking lot of the old VFW post in this section.
