US 24 @ city limits, N side of the Tippicanoe River
When entiering town, you will pass under a viaduct & notice a sharp turn heading directly onto Washington street bridge. While the posted speed is low, it is necessary. The police will sit to the left in a Marina’s parking lot with their lights off and catch anyone going even slightly over the posted limit.

This is a construction zone now, for the new bridge. The old battery operated flashing advisory speedlimit radar sign is now gone, apparently for the duration of the construction. It always helped to have that sign, as you do not realize how fast you are actually going.
18-wheelers frequently turn over on this curve, so it is appropriate to have the lower speed limit, particularly with construction in progress.
Another hazard for 18-wheelers and high loads is the railroad underpass, which has relatively low clearance and is no longer marked. High loads should be wary of this location.
The intersection of US 24 and SR 39 is near by, mentioned by a previous posting. It has a flashing caution light, but vehicles seldom slow down here.
These areas on the east side of town are legitimate for speed enforcement, as you can easily lose your load on the curve, hit the underpass, or get T-boned at the intersection.
