US 59 North from Hwy 6 exit ramp to Airport Blvd. exit

Beware–Sugar Land lunch bunch. The SLPD sits on the right shoulder at the top of an entrance ramp on his motorcycle running radar on US59 to zap inbound commuters. (NORTH). Fines are quite ridiculous. $185 for about 17 mph over. Most jurisdictions would fine you about $120 for this violation. The $200 figure is NOT a misprint, and is not for a construction zone violation. If workers are present in this area (US 59 North from Hwy 6 exit to Airport Exit), you’d better be prepared to borrow the money to pay your fine. Just be smart. If traffic is light and you think it’s safe to speed–That’s the very time to do EXACTLY 55 mph. or you’ll get zapped with LASER!! NOT RADAR. Of course if traffic is heavy, when it’s not near as safe to speed from an accident standpoint, that’s when you might be okay–as I seldom see officers in heavy traffic light late afternoon. I guess that’s because it’s impossible to speed through the traffic in afternoon rush (5-6pm). That’s what saves most of us–we can’t find the room to speed. I’m not all that fast a driver–but hey if there’s a mile in front of you without a car–what would it hurt to go 65-70. We could before the Feds decided we were so polluted. While true, 55 isn’t working and no one obeys. Oh well, it’s going to make Sugar Land (and all areas in the greater Houston area) be able to make up any budget shortfalls they may have been experiencing.
