US-6 through Eastham is 6 miles and 4 lanes on its entire length through town. Until April 1998, it was 40mph in S Eastham and 50mph in N Eastham. Now it’s 40mph all through Eastham due to citizen lobbying. Fact that it’s a 4-lane US Highway may fool travellers into speeding. Whereas in most places you’ll be left alone if you’re 10 or less above limit, in Eastham this is not the case. Would not recommend driving over 45mph on this stretch. I’ve seen officers hiding in 10-20 different places along this stretch over the last 20 years, so I’m listing the entire run of US-6 in Eastham as one speed trap.
