US 62 / US 82
The speed limit drops from 70 mph to 55 mph on US 62/ US 82 as it passes through this small town near Lubbock. The local police monitor the speed regularly and will issue a ticket at the slightest infraction over 55 mph. The local police have gone so far as to buy a car that is light brown to match the grass in the shoulder where he is often parked.

This speed trap has not been as active as it was a couple of years ago. Before, the car would sit in the median, sometimes hidden by tall grass, and blended in with the ground colors. The West bound traffic still drops from 70 to 55 mph but in wide 5mph increments. The city police car is not parking daily in the median like it used to. Occasionally there is a Texas HP car patrolling the area though.
This always has been and still is one of the worst speed traps around. This little town don't have many other ways to generate revenue. A lot of times the city cop, in the brown car, who incidently lives on the north side of town, will park his patrol car in the middle of 62/82 and walk home. Good deterent! Watch out for this place, they give tickets every chance they get and they're expensive.
