US 70 East/West Bypass near Pembroke Avenue or Glenburnie Avenue Overpasses

New Bern, North CarolinaJul 16, 20070 Comments

New Bern paper (Sun Journal) printed a large article (front page) touting LIDAR enforcement, showing officer clocking westbound traffic on US 70 Bypass from Pembroke overpass. Article stated that 35 tickets were issued the first afternoon the speed trap was in action. LIDAR trap utilizes three troopers positioned on on-ramp as interceptors with a remote officer clocking cars and gather vehicle/driver descriptions. Glenburnie exit for eastbound US 70 Bypass is a more dubious location, as it is within one mile of a transistion from 70 mph to 55 mph. Watch especially for a cruiser/suburban parked on bridge to shield/protect remote officer from oncoming (cross-bridge) traffic.
