Tesuque Tribal Police have a constant exploitive police department that is constantly issuing citations throughout their tribal boundaries. I would use extreme CAUTION when traveling into the tribal boundaries just north of the Santa Fe opera through milemarker 176. the officers exhibit a high standard of professionalism and patrol this area relentlessly.

Tesuque police issue more speeding tickets then any other tribe in Northern New Mexico. Tesuque community consists of 16000 residents, yet there are between 9 and 15 officers constantly patroling 285 and CR73, in order to nab unsuspecting motorists. I've personally been stopped for going 50 in a 45 and the officer said his radar gun said I was doing 58. After I signed the ticket he admitted he gunned me at 47, but knew I had slowed down before he got his reading.
It's not uncommon to see an elderly woman, scared and confused, pulled over while a Tesuque officer is writing out a ticket.
For some reason the state of New Mexico targets Sport Bike riders. Yes, I know. We've all seen these kids on 150 hp motorcycles, flying through traffic on mountain roads and on local avenues, but to treat everyone riding a Sports bike suspeciously is unfair.
