US Highway 101

Bandon, OregonJun 09, 20073 Comments

State Troopers are patrolling the Bandon area and the construction zone south of town with a vengence. Locals and out-of-state vehicles alike are being pulled over constantly for excess of speed of even 6 miles per hour and lectured about road crews safety. Residents are concerned and asking our city police what is going on with the state troopers.

Comments:
This WAS a real speed trap. Oregon State Police found themselves a great fishing hole during highway construction. But that is all in the past. First, they were beaten in court. Second, highway construction is over. So, the information, while accurate, is now way out of date.

Give me a brake. A construction zone is a construction zone. that means slow down. The speed signs were in plain sight. This was not a speed trap, it only caught the people that were speeding. And, tell me what is wrong with that.

The construction is over. The State Patrol only was enforcing the clearly marked construction zone, and were pretty lenient with warnings as opposed to citations. There now is a long stretch of 45 MPH speed area south on US101 beyond the city limits. Well marked, not heavily patrolled.
