US Highway 12

Rio Vista, CaliforniaFeb 19, 20091 Comments

A section of Hwy 12 runs east and west through this town and the speed limit drops from 55 mph to 35 mph. During the night and early morning hours you will find these officers sitting in the dark at the Shell station or across the street at the car wash.

Comments:
This same route when arriving in town from the west has a limit change from 55, to 45, to 35 at the edge of town. Officers usually sit on the right side by the taco bell, and clock cars as they come over the rise. Recently when leaving town westbound, an officer will park about 1/2 mile down the road in a small shoulder indent in the westbound lane. Because of the rolling terrain, their radar will spot you before you see them. And finally, about 1.5 miles west of town, at the Summerset light, a B&W car will sit in a small PG&E access pad surrounded by junction boxes. The westbound approach is somewhat downhill, offering lots of ticket potential.
