US Highway 123 near State Route Hwy 93

Clemson, South CarolinaDec 09, 20073 Comments

Heading east on US 123, toward Greenville, approximately 3/4 miles from State Hwy 93. At the top of the hill, as you go under an unmarked bridge overpass (no exists), an city patrol car will park about 300 yards pass the bridge as the highway slopes downward such that once you top the hill, and go under the bridge, you suddenly encounter the patrol car as it faces you. The highway speed is 45, but since you are well out of Clemson by then and on a divided four lane highway, the tendency is to pick up a normal "open-highway" speed as you head uphill toward the bridge. By time you hit the hilltop and go under the bridge, you’re well past the posted speed limit sign way back toward town.

Comments:
The speed limit is 55 here..not 45.

I cannot verify the Speed Limit to date but I have seen a City Officer's patrol car facing the bridge over Berkeley sitting in the medium waiting to entrap speeders.

This looks to be beyond town limits because it is three miles from town and is posted as 55 mph. There is no signs that show town limits...but the town police are limited to the corporate limits. There should be proof of the limits of the town of Clemson that everyone can readily see. If the police are waiting at the limit and you cross into the higher speed zone and they say they were in pursuit, that won't fly...because they are not in pursuit when they are sitting still especially with their patrol car in park. Look up the definition of pursuit many "police" abuse this term. They are not in pursuit when they are going the opposite direction either. Like where Pickens county ends across the 123 Bridge into Oconee County...
