State police sit in median strip facing south, on US 17 south, just past "Welcome to Essex County" sign. I was pulled over TWICE in one morning. The speed limit is 55 on a divided highway. I believe, though I’m not sure, since the speedometer on the car I was driving was, in fact, broken, that I was driving between 60 and 65. However, this speedtrap is VERY VERY well known all over VA, and I am surprised that I am the first person to report it here. I went ahead and paid the tickets, since I didn’t have the time or money to spend getting someone else’s car’s speedometer repaired at that time (I was on the way to a job interview!)
