As you approach the Atchafalaya Bridge the speed limit drops from 55 MPH to 45 MPH at the base of the bridge and is 45 through out the out skirts of the city. Several marked units will be waiting on the other side of the bridge. I have personally not been pulled over but several friends have for going 50 as they descended off the bridge. And were given a stern warning for going 5 over. You have to ride your breaks to maintain the posted speed limit. They also like to sit at night with their lights off ( blacked out ) and bust speeders. Also keep in mind there are 2 more units sitting on the median where the speed limit goes back up to either 55 mph or 65 mph as you are leaving town.
